From the High Ridge Road trailhead, the white-blazed loop climbs steadily through hardwood forest to the rocky spine of Buffalo Mountain. The payoff is the White Rock overlook, an open cliff face looking north over Johnson City and Jonesborough. The grades are steep and the cliff edge is unguarded, so the loop feels tougher than its mileage suggests.
