The level paved path alternates between shaded woods and open shoreline and crosses a long bridge over the eastern end of the lake. It doubles as an arboretum with labeled trees and is known for abundant waterfowl and wildlife. The lake is not connected by surface water to neighboring Percy Priest Lake, which keeps it calm and clear.
