Frozen Head is the high point of the Cumberland Mountains in Tennessee. The trail leaves the visitor center, climbs steadily through hemlock and rhododendron to the ridge, and tops out at the restored fire tower on the 3,324-foot summit. The observation platform looks west across the Cumberlands; on a clear day the Big South Fork country shows on the horizon. Pack water and plan a full day. Dogs welcome on leash; no entry fees.
