A roughly 600-foot boardwalk crosses Mineral Slough on the north side of Beasley Road, giving foot access to swamp and marsh that most people only see by canoe. The surrounding natural area protects an unchannelized stretch of the Wolf River through bottomland hardwoods, cypress-tupelo swamp, and open marsh, with excellent birding. It is flat and short, a quiet stop rather than a workout.
