The River Trail winds from the visitor center through forest and onto a series of elevated boardwalks clinging to the limestone bluffs above the Tennessee River, tying into the Will Skelton Greenway. It is a flagship easy walk in Knoxville's Urban Wilderness and can be extended toward Mead's Quarry Lake and the Ross Marble Natural Area. Natural-surface and boardwalk sections mean sturdy shoes help after rain.
