The Old Forest is a rare urban old-growth woodland inside the 342-acre Overton Park, designated Tennessee's 82nd State Natural Area in 2011. Its network of unpaved foot trails, anchored by this loop, is a noted spot for spring migratory birding and carries a tree-marker arboretum. Flat and shaded, it is an easy escape close to downtown Memphis.
